WebDec 16, 2009 · Durring the many grows I've had I've noticed that a 30 min on and 1hr off works best with hydroton rocks. When I switched over to higromite (Discount Hydroponics - Higromite) I dont know why I ever used hydrton in the first place.I hate hydroton now and will only use higromite. out of all the grows its easier to maintain and the plants love them.
WebMar 22, 2010 · Hydroton is really not a good media as it is too porous and soaks up way to many nutrients. It at takes literally 4 or 5 weeks of soaking used hydroton is frequently changed water to remove all the nutrients they soak up in just one grow. So really both your proffered choices suck. Think inert and very well draining.
